Creating
the world of Cosplay Fashion
by: Rona Guevara
Cosplay is short for “costume play”. Cosplay
involves wearing a costume that is exactly like that of a character from manga,
anime, or video games, making your hair and make-up as the character’s
appearance as possible. Cosplayer is the term used for those people who love
and portray the character. It is the responsibility of cosplayers in creating
their own hair stles, make-ups, costumes and the props in portraying a
character. Cosplay is growing in popularity especially among young people all
over the world. Because, teenagers are more exposed in todays generation where
anime characters are more popular and more important for them than the
characters in books where there are many lessons and discoveries are found.

blurring of the distinction between fiction and reality. It is believed that it
was originated in the SF and comic conventions that take place in America and
Europe. But, in todays generation cosplay is more popular in Japan than other
countries simply because daily life in Japan was filled with manga, anime,
video games and other works upon which cosplay can be based. Also, they have a
comic market in their country where most of the young people are devoted of
that kind of life.

enjoy the way you create costumes
2. You
enhance your creative skills in arts
3.
You
will meet other cosplayers and other

possible to truly becoming the character that you are dress up. Cosplay fashion

not only wearing creative costumes but you will introduce yourself by a
creative speech, correct diction and language as the character you portray. Cosplay
is a performance art in which participants called

can range from simple themed clothing to highly detailed costumes. It is

to replicate a specific character, rather than to reflect the culture and
symbolism of a holiday event.
